Watauga Valley Steel was formed in 1982 by Gary Pierce and Jack Morton. Both men had extensive backgrounds in the steel detailing profession and decided to incorporate their knowledge and form a fabrication shop of their own. The company was formed and began steel fabrication for many of the local General Contractors in the Tri-Cities area.
In 1984 Watauga Valley Steel purchased an existing business named Christian Sheet Metal. This expanded the steel fabrication capabilities and also introduced a new service to offer. Christian Metals performed custom sheet metal projects out of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, copper and brass.
After Mr. Morton’s death in 1997 the companies were solely owned by Gary Pierce. In 1998 it was decided to merge both companies and Pierce Metals Incorporated was formed. Pierce Metals is currently headquartered in Bristol, Tennessee. Pierce Metals is family operated by Gary Pierce, Judy Pierce and James Pierce. Currently we offer structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous steel fabrication, steel stairs, handrails (steel, aluminum or stainless steel) and many steel products for the commercial and industrial industry. Our full service sheet metal division offers custom fabrication of items such as kitchen equipment, counter tops, corner guards, chimney caps and many one of a kind parts for the construction industry.
We have recently purchased the adjacent property and will be moving the sheet metal division to this property to increase capacity for this division. Pierce Metals has an in-house detailing department to help expedite preparation of structural drawings for fabrication.
